Born as a response to the beer culture in South Africa and a desire to share the exciting developments that are taking place in the craft beer realm elsewhere, Devil's Peak Brewing Company (DPBC) sets out to produce brews unlike any other beer you're likely to find in South Africa.
Our passion is to create beers with character and depth using exclusively the finest ingredients from around the globe. For beer drinkers, we offer a journey of discovery, an appreciation of good beer in all its forms. Our range of beers is made locally with ingredients from Europe and America, combined with creative recipes that have been perfected over years by our chief beer maker.
Its all-grain base is enhanced by fermentation with added wild honey, adding complexity and mellow floral notes, as well as two Karoo herbs.
Together, these add an initial "fynbos" bouquet, as well as depth and complexity on the palate with fennel and other herbal notes, and then a full finish. Both herbs are revered for traditional health benefits.
Our Lager has robust colour, with sediments and live yeast from un-hurried natural conditioning. Is a full malt mouthful, with hops and added herbs for specific bouquet and palate. The IBU is in the low 30s.
Loxton Lager is an easy balance and a superb accompaniment to well-prepared cuisine and our 440ml is the perfect size to present chilled and then enjoy as the flavours develop in a tulip shaped glass (not overfilled.)
The name comes from a time when Chris was brewing in a vacant space in a local factory called Boston Bag Company.
Prior to this, like many young South African people, Chris had gone travelling around Europe and enjoyed drinking the different beers. When he returned home, the beer scene seemed flat in comparison.
Home brewing beckoned and after taking a fact-finding trip around Bavaria he decided to do something about it; by September 200 Boston Breweries was a reality. Today it is a busy brewery and currently one of the leading micro-breweries in SA. As well as producing its own beers, Boston Breweries also contract brews for several smaller concerns.
The product offering is inspired by the surrounding wildlife of its origin, Darling, and the brand feeds off passion and innovation. The lifestyle that Darling Brew portrays is one of aspiration, passion for life and admiration for all things great.
Born out of the passion for beer, the need for new styles, colours, flavours and a demand for quality micro brewed beer in South Africa.
Beer is the reason we get out of bed every afternoon.

Jack Black's Brewing Co is focused on distinctive quality and innovation. Our beer is made from only the finest natural ingredients at our new state-of-the-art Cape Town craft brewery.
All we care about is brewing world class craft beer; extraordinary beers that blow people's minds and kick start a revolution.
When it comes down to it, we are a selfish son of a bitch. We can't help it. We have a terminal addiction to make beers we want to drink.
Beer with teeth and balls. Beer we lust for. Crafted beer. Experimentation is our Art. Revolution is our weapon. And revolutions aren't made on formula. They just rip the tits off convention. Added ingredients and preservatives are for hammerheads. Cheap substitutes and chemicals are for thieves and pimps. Those stupid little gunsel corporate freaks think they got us fooled with their tasteless, mindless, visionless crap. Walk tall, kick ass and learn to speak craft beer.
We work hand-in-hand with different brewmasters from small* regional bavarian & belgian family-run breweries to create craft lagers & ales that we are not only proud to produce for our customers, but love to drink ourselves. (*small; meaning we work with breweries that produce less than 150,000hl per annum.)
We believe in the quality of small batches and not the quantities of mega-production. We obsess about aroma and taste, not economies of scale. Our beers are unfiltered and unpasteurised, which allows for a fuller, richer taste. We don't believe we can single-handedly change the world of beer as it exists, but with a little raw passion, blind optimism and reckless resolve, we can perhaps make a difference.
